Japanese multi-instrumentalist Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada) is in the midst of his 30th anniversary world tour, and stopped at the lovely UC Theatre in Berkeley on Wednesday night. The tour is titled after his seventh full length studio album “Dream in Dream” released in 2023. As opener Money Mark said during his short and eclectic set, the audience’s minds were tweaked and expanded during their intense show – with the light and projections providing the perfect backdrop to the sometimes experimental and deeply textured songs.
Cornelius and his band played songs from his five previous albums since 1992, beginning with the landmark LP Fantasma. Some of the set’s highlights included – “Count Five Or Six”, (Fantasma), “Drop” (Point), “Wataridori” (Sensuous), “If You’re Here” (Mellow Waves).
