Headlining Sunday night at the Rickshaw Stop was Irish Indie rock band Pillow Queens. The band formed in Dublin in 2016. The band is composed Pamela Connolly and Sarah Corcoran who share of co-vocalists, rhythm and bass guitar duties, lead guitarist Cathy McGuinness and drummer Rachel Lyons. Pillow Queens released their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘In Waiting’ in 2020 and are now touring promoting their 3rd and latest LP ‘Name Your Sorrow’.
The Pillow Queens put on a great show. Pamela Connolly sang and played rhythm guitar the whole show. She has a unique voice, singing with a bit of growl but easily transitioning to soft and gentle tones throughout songs. I also like lead guitarist Cathy McGuinness’s edgy and rhythmic lead lines that give you a hook you can hang on to over their posh sounds.
I think Pillow Queen has a great future ahead them. Pillow Queens put on a great set and I look forward to seeing them perform again.
