P*ssy Riot’s founder, Nadya Tolokonnikova, played an incredible show at SF’s own Kilowatt Bar in the Mission. An intimate affair, Nadya brought her activist punk sound to a small but packed house. It was a fantastic blend of activism and artistry. Nadya brought her fierce energy and unapologetic message to the stage, captivating the audience with her powerful vocals and fearless presence. With electrifying performances of both original songs and protest anthems, Tolokonnikova left a lasting impression, inspiring listeners to question the status quo and stand up for their beliefs. Nadya (and her messages) warrant a much larger stage, but we feel fortunate to catch her in one of the Mission’s staple bars.
Nashville native, Boyfriend, helped to kick off the party with a performance that was a bold and provocative display of artistry and self-expression. Clad in a sheer top that pushed boundaries and challenged societal norms, Boyfriend fearlessly owned the stage, captivating the audience with her raw talent and undeniable charisma. Through her infectious energy and unapologetic confidence, Boyfriend delivered a memorable performance that celebrated freedom of expression and embraced individuality. With her witty lyrics and captivating stage presence, Boyfriend left a lasting impression, pushing the boundaries of conventional hip-hop and challenging audiences to embrace authenticity in all its forms.
SF fave, Pleeay, opened the night with a beautiful and powerful set, blending ballet, melody and class activism.
