This past Saturday, Two Friends debut their “The Great Escape” set at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston. With two electric back-to-back nights in Beantown, the DJ duo brought non-stop energy with a set full of classics and new releases. The duo, Eli Sones and Matthew Halper gained popularity for their hour-long “Big Bootie” mixes that never fail to get a crowd going. The cherry on top of an electrifying performance was Two Friends’ resident saxophonist Casey Fitzpatrick. The transition from Morgan Wallen’s “Whiskey Glasses” to Ookay’s “Thief” in which Fitzpatrick seemingly comes out of nowhere to perform the saxophone chorus of ‘Thief’ will always be a personal favorite moment of a Two Friends set.
Two Friends seemed to connect with their audience in every way imaginable, playing crowd favorites such as Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (who coincidently threw the first pitch at the RedSox game going on next door), Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” and closing with Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”. Witnessing the pure excitement that came following the first notes of ‘I’m Shipping Up to Boston’ was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Two Friends will perform next at the XS Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV. Their most recent mix, Big Bootie Mix 24, is available for streaming on Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, and Apple Music. Two Friends will also be hosting their very own Big Bootie Land NYC show at Madison Square Garden on August 24th; tickets are on sale now!
