Chaka Khan closed the 87th season of the Stern Grove Festival with an electrifying performance that energized every corner of the venue. From the standing crowd on the lawn to the fans perched on the hill among the eucalyptus trees, the entire grove buzzed with excitement. As Chaka performed timeless hits from the ’70s and ’80s like “Tell Me Something Good,” “I’m Every Woman,” and “Ain’t Nobody,” the audience sang and danced along with unbridled enthusiasm.
Opening act Steel Pulse turned up the heat on an already hot Sunday afternoon with their electrifying performance. The UK-based roots reggae band delivered standout tracks like “Rally Round” and “Don’t Shoot” with incredible energy. David Hinds’ powerful vocals, combined with the band’s tight musicianship, kept the audience swaying throughout the set.
