Ava Max Shines Bright in San Francisco
Rising pop star, Ava Max turned San Francisco’s Fillmore auditorium into a giant shimmery dance party when she came to town last week. Accompanied by a crew of dancers, her band, a full backdrop of twinkling lights and a giant diamond at center stage, Max showcased her strong vocals and nimble dance moves for a roughly hour plus long set. Highlights from the night included performances of “Ghost” and “Cold As Ice” from her latest LP, Diamonds & Dancefloors, and her performance of “Sweet but Psycho” to close out the night.
It’s refreshing to see Max’s full throttle approach – big anthemic choruses, booming beats, and a flair for the dramatic – unapologetic dance pop music. A welcomed throwback sound amidst the a pop trend towards lower-fi singer/songwriters. Ava Max concludes her US tour this weekend in Wisconsin before hopping abroad for a handful of festivals dates in Europe.
