The Leader Bank Pavilion was the perfect setting for an unforgettable night of music on August 2nd, as Black Pumas took the stage with an electrifying performance that left the audience in awe. The evening began with an energetic opening set by Lamont Landers, who brought his soulful sounds of the South all the way to New England, setting the tone for a night of exceptional live music.
As the sun set over the Boston waterfront, Black Pumas took the stage, bringing their signature blend of soul, funk, and psychedelic rock to life. Led by frontman Eric Burton, the band delivered a performance that was nothing short of spectacular.
From the opening notes of “Black Moon Rising” to the final encore, the energy in the pavilion was electric. Burton’s powerful vocals were complemented by Adrian Quesada’s masterful guitar work, creating a rich, immersive sound that had the entire crowd grooving. The setlist included fan favorites like “Colors” and “Fire,” which were delivered with the passion and precision that has come to define Black Pumas’ live shows.
I was immediately struck by Burton’s presence and his involvement with the crowd. Within the first five minutes of being on stage, Burton was actually off the stage and in the crowd. You would find him patiently walking from fan to fan, shaking hands and dancing with every fan he could. To see Burton take the time to personally interact with fans and with that much raw love was simply moving. It was a moment when you knew the world gave a platform to the right person.
Next up, Black Pumas head to Minneapolis, MN to continue their tour, celebrating their newest release ‘Chronicles of a Diamond’.
