Saturday, SFJAZZ welcomed the Bay Area based creative community SMARTBOMB for a single day & night of immersive live music performances, video art and installs.
SMARTBOMB is an Oakland based creative arts organization that builds & connects communities by showcasing innovative dynamic and marginalized voices through curated events and multimedia projects.
Headlining the multiple performances of the day was the legendary New York avant-garde outfit, STANDING ON THE CORNER ART ENSEMBLE making their long-awaited Bay Area debut. Artist performing in the Joe Henderson Lab included Maylee Todd, Musele Project, Zachary James Watkins and a rare & special premiere of new jazz compositions written by Dakim, performed by rising pianist/artist Diego Gaeta. The event also included DJ sets from local luminaries TribeJazz, Three6Sashia and Melanie Marie, and live beat music sets from Heru and Jillesque.
