Fans of punchy, lyrical, heart-on-the-sleeve pop bangers take note; OSTON is prepped and ready to muscle her way into the pop girl conversation judging by her smashing set in San Francisco over the weekend. The show marked the LA-based performer’s second outing of her debut headlining tour. Don’t expect any nerves or inexperience on display, though, as OSTON, aka Austin Wolfe, looked at ease and in command up on the intimate Cafe du Nord stage.
Cuts from her latest EP, Saint Rich, were the highlights of the night. I clocked EP opener ‘Pay No Mind’ as a favorite when I first listened to it back in May and seeing it live didn’t disappoint. And ‘Burton St’ fully delivered on its massive anthem potential as the SF crowd bounced and sang back proclaiming “I’m not broken without you” in cathartic unison. The EP’s titular track, ‘Saint Rich’ offered a quieter and impactful moment midway through the set and was another high point of the night.
If the tracks from ‘Saint Rich’ are an indication of OSTON’s developing musically then she’s one to definitely watch out for as she cooks up for her next full length and continues touring. I, for one, can’t wait to catch her on next go around to Bay Area.
OSTON continues the St. Rich Tour through the end of July. Check out the rest of the dates here.
