Sunday Daydream Vol. 3 brought together the Terrapin community and Deadheads of all ages on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, overlooking the SF Bay from McNears Beach in San Rafael. The all-day festival celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s iconic 7/21/74 concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Phil Lesh & Friends headlined the main stage, with opening performances by Stu Allen & Mars Hotel, and Greg Loiacono & Stingray. Meanwhile, Scott Law & Elliott Peck hosted music throughout the day at the “Keep It Weird” Acoustic Stage.
Phil Lesh & Friends (a lineup that included Stanley Jordan, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Grahame Lesh, Jason Crosby, and John Molo) opened with an improvisational jam that seamlessly transitioned into “Jack Straw.” As the set progressed, vocalist Elliott Peck and guitarist Stu Allen joined the stage. Drawing from the Hollywood Bowl setlist, the band performed classics like “Sugaree,” “Playing in the Band,” and “Truckin’.” One of the standout moments of the afternoon was Stanley Jordan’s mesmerizing instrumental performance of “Over The Rainbow,” providing a serene interlude that transitioned into “Playing in the Band” before the show wrapped up with “Sugar Magnolia.”
