Sold out at Cafe Du Nord!
Energized by the sounds of supporting artist Anna Vaus the crowd was ready to dance to the soulful music of Stephen Day from note one. He took the stage to screams and shouts filling the wonderfully intimate Cafe Du Nord.
On tour from Nashville, Stephen brought along bassist Andrew Brown, keyboardist Harrison Finks, and drummer Chris Karabelas for the West Coast tour.
The night kicked off with “Kinda Cowgirl”, followed by the title track of his 2024 release “Gold Mine”. From there, the crowd was singing and dancing together. This set of original sounds was laced with well-chosen familiar tracks, including Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison followed by to “Hey Lady”. And later a nod to “Mr Sandman” in his song “Oscar.”
Already singing and swaying under the spell, Stephen stealthily cued the crowd movement in unison. At the night’s end, one lucky fan was invited on stage to spin the “wheel of surprise” and win a record to take home. The encore “Dancing in the Street” transformed the dancing in the room to thunderous applause.
Stephen and Anna are off to southern California next, with dates in San Diego, LA, and Phoenix this week. Get your tickets before they sell out!
