Lech Wierzynski (lead vocal, trumpet, and guitar for the California Honeydrops) looked out into the audience and said he recognized everyone in the front row. Some fans who crowded into The Fillmore said they’ve been following the band since it started performing in Oakland BART stations – why I always stop and listen to the buskers, you might see them on stage someday.
It all contributed to the feeling of a joyous family reunion as friends, family, and longtime fans packed The Fillmore for three nights of sold out shows accompanied by Lindsay Lou (vocals) and Jay Cobb Anderson (guitar and harmonica).
Gotta say, it reminded me that four years ago, right around this time, venues were shutting down and we didn’t know when we’d have this again.
